Pedro Martínez Marín (Aka Mainman) is a painter who goes beyond the codes of figuration to express in an abstract way, moods, feelings, that is, the inner universe of the artist himself, his individuality, his existential impulse, producing in the mind of the observer a veritable mass of plastic emotions.
The work of Spanish contemporary artist Pedro Martinez Marin sits somewhere within the spectrum of futuristic narratives. Derived from the formalist traditions of geometric abstraction and avant-garde concepts, Martínez Marín instills a sense of a musical and logical order and beauty within chaos and abstraction, predominantly through a reverence for the pure and foundational aspects of painting.
Together, the individual explorations of natural sequences, architectural structures, mathematical gradients, and minimalist light and color serve to evidence how systematically arranged elements within a composition can generate not only active optical space, but also emotional and psychological effects that gently and suggestively seem to approach the realm of the divine.
Frequently his work is inspired by nature, the fragility of its beauty and its vulnerability as a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of our own existence and is often composed in dense, though congruous, arrangements of ambiguous motifs that evoke plant matter, machine parts or cellular structures.
He experiments with the tension between chaos and control getting rid of boundaries with a very personal language improvised and expressive. He folds the paint with brushstrokes and stains that show a strong emotional content. This process is for Martinez Marín like a catharsis of life, a wild celebration of freedom, always so necesary.
He currently resides between Barcelona and Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz).
